Description

Lord Nelson Elementary is hosting an upcoming Parent Information Event about issues facing our children in our digital world.

The presenter, Sam Jingfors, is a consultant with Safer Schools Together, who brings a background in criminology with a focus on cyberbullying, digital citizenship, and the privacy and security of children and youth online. Sam currently works with Safer Schools Together as a presenter and consultant on the issue of digital safety.

In this presentation, Sam will outline how we, as parents, can make age-appropriate decisions to support our kids to understand the short and long term implications of the choices that they make in their social media and online participation.

Please feel free to bring friends and neighbours and to invite others to come to this important talk with you.

Even if you are the parent of a young child, who may not yet be at this stage, it is important to be prepared and knowledgeable in this area, as it won't be long before he or she will become immersed in the world of social media. The more we as families know about the realm of social media, the better we can guide our children and remain connected with them as they navigate this part of their lives.

On January 26th,the day before this presentation, Safer Schools Together will present to our Grade 1-4 students, and then to our Grade 5-7 students.

*Please note that our Kindergarten students will not receive the student presentation this year, but as parents of this age group, you are more than welcome to attend this parent presentation.
